Emulsion: Film Photography in the Pre- and Post- Digital Age

In the Richards Gallery

Through history, film photography has left an enormous impact on art and journalism. As the technology of photography developed, its impact became greater, and even though we are living in a digital age, its relevance continues today.

This exhibition explores the technology and history of film photography. The exhibition includes cameras from the late 1800’s to the 1990’s, examples of historical documentary photographs and those from WPA projects. Also on view are selections from the Carl Ackerman Collection and Clarence Holbrook Carter source photographs.

Exhibition Artists:
W.E. Arnolds, Clarence Holbrook Carter, Kayla Holdgreve, Diana Duncan Holmes, Richard Malogorski, Mat Marrash, Robert C. May, Marissa Stewart, Wade Thompson, and Cameras from the Bob and Judy Schmank Camera Collection
